Aims & Objectives
• To stimulate critical discourse and creativity through the placing of contemporary art within the town centre and to foster a sense of community and pride in orphaned spaces
• To make contemporary art available to new audiences through accessible and inclusive projects which engage the general public in dialogue with the work and the artist
• To facilitate the growth of Satellite within a local, national and international context by working in partnership with key individuals and organisations to develop a local, national and international profile, network and opportunities
• To research the local area and use local knowledge to understand Cumbernauld as a specific location/environment as a starting point to develop explore and respond to town centre
• To create new work resulting from Cumbernauld as a new focus, bringing a positive and creative space to the community
• To explore a more collaborative practice either as part of making work, or in the display of work.
• To explore different methods of production, exhibition and curation of work and ideas.
• To increase cultural production and cultural identity in the surrounding area. .
• To work in partnership with local businesses, newspaper, architect and the local authority.
• To run on a non-profit making basis and pursue income generation through a variety of sources in order to sustain the organisation and to realise its objectives through a rich and varied programme of projects/events
